The joint stock Đà Nẵng Port company has started operating a new container yard on 37,000sq.m after two years of construction, providing space for 110,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) and increasing capacity at the port.
The first direct shipping route connecting the central city’s Tiên Sa Port and Long Beach Port, Oakland, the US, has been launched in hosting cargo ships from central Việt Nam to the US.
Speeding up the construction of the new Lien Chieu Cargo Port would help promote Da Nang as a key international logistics centre, and allow the existing Tien Sa Port to be reserved for cruise ships only.
